The guitar puts the power of sound or vibration directly into the player’s hands. This power has a legacy of mysticism and mystique dating back to the times of Pythagoras and beyond. A stringed-instrument has been used as a model for the universe and higher power itself since the ancients intuited that all things vibrate. The guitar still holds transcendental power to uplift, illuminate and expand several levels of both the player and listener. I perform regularly solo and with accompaniment, both popular music and Kirtan yoga. I have taught several years of after-school classes called Rock Band. I will occasionally take on private students that are looking for a deeper approach to their instrument and craft. We cover theory and philosophy and usable guitar technique over the course of 12 sessions at which point I will push you ‘out of the nest.’ If appropriate, we will devise an ongoing system of study for you, though probably elsewhere. While not necessary, I have a soft spot for students of all ages that are interested in performing and promoting music.
